Preschool
Gingerbread Nursery School
The longest running pre-school in Jackson, Gingerbread Nursery is licensed by the state of Minnesota.  In addition to kindergarten preparation, the staff aims to instill a love for school, not just a mastery of skills.   Classes are offered one a week for 3 1/2 year olds and three times per week for 4 to 5 year olds.

JCC Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program of Jackson County Central Community Education offering classes and programs for families with young children from birth to kindergarten entrance. ECFE recognized that parents are a child's first and most important teachers. Our programs emphasize parent involvement and family education.  Classes are offered during day and evening hours for a variety of age groupings. Class enrollment is limited to insure a safe, productive environment.

WCA Head Start

Head Start is a FREE family-focused preschool program. Head Start promotes the growth and development of preschool age children, meeting the individual needs of each child and their family. Children learn on an individual basis or as a group. Parents take part in special activities that help them learn and grow along with their child.

JCC strives to achieve a strong community and school partnership, providing academic and co-curricular excellence, while maintaining the fi nancial stability of our district.

Jackson County Central has experienced unprecedented success in the classroom, as well as in extracurricular activities, since the consolidation of the Jackson and Lakefield school districts in 1997, and the additional consolidation of the Sioux Valley district in 2000.

JCC students have proven their talents in sports, academics, fine arts, FFA and much more. JCC has earned state team championships in volleyball, football, wrestling, baseball and softball, to go with a host of numerous FFA state and national championships.

In fine arts and academics, the JCC Math League, Robotics and Music Listening teams have placed high at the state level, while speech and drama students continue to perform well year after year.

In the 2011 - 2012 school year we have 1178 students and 85 teachers.  Our district wide student / teacher ratio is 13.8 to 1.  Specific class size information can be found on the Live Here - Statistics page.

Higher Education
Minnesota West Community and Technical College
The Jackson Campus of Minnesota West has played an important role in preparing students for meaningful careers since 1967.  Jackson is nestled in the beautiful Des Moines River Valley in Southwest Minnesota. The campus has long been known for preparing technicians in fields of electrician and power lineman.  As a leader in the development of distance learning, the technical campus continues to expand its online course offerings. The campus offers students a variety of programs in areas such as business, computer, mechanics, power sports, and massage.  Students may begin their four-year degree at the campus by attaining an Associate in Arts degree either through on-campus or online instruction.
